As Built Data operate our own large scale Scan To 3D CAD Conversion Centre. We offer this service to our clients as an rapid and economical way of generating a 3D As built CAD model from their Laser Scan data.

We have enough resources and experience to make sure your Laser Scan data is modelled quickly and cost effectively.

Our proven work process ensures both consistency and quality with an unrivalled service experience for our clients.

Deliverables

As Built Data can currently export 3D as built models to the following 3D design packages:

  • P.D.M.S. (.xml file)
  • AutoCAD (.dxf, .dwg files)
  • Microstation (.dgn file)
  • P.D.S.
  • RealityLinx (.xnf file)
  • 3D PlantLinx (.nff file)

In addition, we can also deliver 3D as built CAD models in formats for use with packages such as Solid Edge, Soildworks, 3DS Max, Walkinside (.vr file) and Navisworks.

Quality Assurance

Quality Assurance Monitoring Checks
Our modelling software allows our CAD Technicians to view each others work in the project database, but restricts access to change or alter that work in any way.
Team Leaders view the activity of our Technicians via remote terminals. They act as a constant monitoring system, watching for potential errors.

Post Process Quality Checks
Every CAD Technician involved with the model build process carries out a series of checks on their area of the model.
Simple visual checks, are made checking for obvious errors. Each CAD Technician then runs a quality assurance verification program which is built into our modelling software to check for completeness and model build accuracy.

Tie-in and Final Quality Checking
Geographical areas of the facility are joined together and the database is structured to meet with the client's hierarchy. Quality Assurance Verification is then run again for a final time to check the whole model against the scan data before delivery.

Reporting and Communication of Errors
Errors are flagged using annotated points, which are database objects with a position and a reference. They contain text entered by the user detailing any problems found. Because annotated points are database objects, we can list them to ensure errors are rectified.
